The Samsung SSD 840 Pro is a standard internal drive that has many great features to make it one of the best standard consumer-grade solid-state drives on the market. In my opinion, the SSD 850 Pro has the best performance with ultra high endurance when compared to its competitors.
The Samsung SSD 840 Pro is the first SSD on the market that utilizes the innovative 3D vertical NAND flash memory. Traditionally, NAND flash memory cells were placed on the surface of silicon water, and the number of cells that could be crammed into a square inch was limited. With this Samsung drive, cells are stacked up to 32 layers. This enables the drive to store a significant amount of memory cells in the same amount of water bits. It also comes with a 10 year warranty, as well as a RAPID mode that enhances its performance. RAPID stands for Real-Time Accelerated Processing. This basically means performance is enhanced by the available system memory on the host computer acting as an input/output cache.
On the downside, the features this product offers comes at a hefty price. Depending on the capacities, the drives can cost anywhere from $130 to $730. The price depends on how many gigabytes the internal drive can store. In my opinion, that is pretty expensive compared to competing drives. However, if you are willing to pay the premium cost, Samsung does have a reputation for delivering the best performance currently on the market. This product is especially beneficial for those who need to write a large amount of data to the internal drive on a daily basis.
If money is not an issue, I definitely recommend the Samsung 850 Pro. This product pushes the limit of the traditional SSD and goes above and beyond my expectations of an internal drive. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung 850 Pro.
